"I am the vicar for the parish of Dearnley, Wardle and Smallbridge.  I enjoy my role as a governor at St.James', contributing to the school's development  and its Christain distinctivness.  I spend a great deal of time in school and run an ethos group with the children"

Reverand Rachel Battershell
Governor - Diocese

"My whole career has been spent in education as a teacher (including in Special Schools) and headteacher (for the final 23 years of my career) in four different schools. I recently took early retirement from Headship. I currently work for Lancashire Local Authority, one day a week, as a School Improvement Officer, which I have done whilst a Headteacher, and since retiring, for twelve years.
I have worshipped at St James Church, Wardle and then Wardle Village Church all my life. On retirement I wanted to give something back to education, which had given me a fantastic career, so volunteered to become a LA Governor for the school.
I have two grown up children and live in Smithybridge"
