Honoring a lifetime of service
We are so proud of our students Mia (Year 5), Robyn (Year 6), and Eliza (Year 6) for being part of such a special community moment. Alongside Miss Lord, the children represented our school at the retirement service for Councillor Ashley Dearnley on Sunday at St Andrew’s Church.
It was a real privilege to witness the heartfelt warmth and thanks shared for Ashley’s incredible 44 years of public service. We heard touching tributes from local leaders and our very own Watergrove Trust Headteacher and Diocesan Director of Education Judith Rainford, highlighting a career built on decency, integrity, and courtesy.
A particular highlight was the powerful sermon by the Rt Rev Mark Davies, Bishop of Middleton.
A huge thank you to Reverend Rachel for a warm welcome and wonderful service.
Ashley has made a real difference to the community through his kindness and dedication. We thank him for everything and all at St James’ wishes him a wonderful retirement.
