WHAT MAKES ST JAMES’ SPECIAL

Curriculum Icons

Curriculum

At St James’ CE Primary School we aim to provide the children with a curriculum which is broad, well balanced and above all
stimulates the children to learn.

In addition to acquiring skills
and knowledge, we aim to help the children to grow in confidence and maturity so that they can enter secondary school, and later, adulthood with the ability to pursue wholeheartedly, academic, social and cultural activities.

It is a curriculum which is both coherent and cohesive.

🥣 Hands-on science in Year 4! 🧪

Our Year 4 class recently turned into a working digestive system!

They tracked food's journey through the body, starting with chewing in the mouth, traveling down the oesophagus, churning in the stomach, and moving through the small and large intestines before its final exit.

Using a few household items, we brought the biology to life:

🥣 Weetabix stood in for our food

🍊 Orange juice acted as stomach acid to break it down

🫗 Tights doubled as the intestines, squeezing out all the nutrients and moisture!

Messy, memorable, and full of fantastic learning! Great work Year 4!

It was so wonderful welcoming our Reception children and their grown-ups into school for lunch today. From trying delicious school meals together to sharing plenty of smiles across the lunch tables, the hall was bursting with happy chatter and brilliant manners.
Watching our newest learners show off their routines and enjoy mealtime alongside their families was a real highlight of the term so far. Thank you to every parent, carer, and family member who took time out of their busy day to join us. It was truly special, and we’re so proud of how brilliantly our Reception stars are settling in! Thank you to our amazing catering team for opening the hatch early and for the delicious food🎒💛

What a spectacular start to the term for our fantastic Year 6 pupils! 🌟From diving straight into their swimming lessons to stepping back in time to recreate air raid shelters for History, our oldest students have hit the ground running. They've also been using their tech skills in Computing with Mr Choudry, making noise in Music with Mrs Smith, and showing wonderful leadership qualities and friendship during buddy time with our new Reception children.

We are so proud of their incredible attitude toward learning and the brilliant example they are setting for the rest of the school. Keep up the amazing work, Year 6! 👏📚✨
