COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE

Welcome to St. James’ CE Primary School

We are a school community that is ‘Committed to Excellence’ in all aspects of our work. We strive for the best possible academic outcomes for all children and deliver an engaging curriculum full of exciting opportunities. Most importantly, we work tirelessly with families to create children that we are proud to say are from St.James’. This website will provide you with an overview of our school, but would encourage prospective parents to visit our fantastic setting and see what makes St.James’ so special.

WHAT MAKES ST JAMES’ SPECIAL

Curriculum Icons

Curriculum

At St James’ CE Primary School we aim to provide the children with a curriculum which is broad, well balanced and above all
stimulates the children to learn.

In addition to acquiring skills
and knowledge, we aim to help the children to grow in confidence and maturity so that they can enter secondary school, and later, adulthood with the ability to pursue wholeheartedly, academic, social and cultural activities.

It is a curriculum which is both coherent and cohesive.

Our children are at the forefront of everything we do at St James’. We strive for the best possible academic outcomes for
all children and deliver an engaging curriculum full of exciting opportunities which promote a life-long love of learning.

Most importantly, we work tirelessly with families to create independent learners who are adaptable, questioning, curious
and confident in their own ability to achieve their full potential, and children that we are proud to say are from St. James.

Community

The spirit of community at St James’ is one of its defining features. Founded on a Church of England tradition the school welcomes children of all faiths and beliefs to a community that emphasises values of spiritual awareness, understanding and respect for others.

We celebrate achievement and individuality,
providing a diverse range of experiences that encourages children to understand the value of working together and recognising the talents and contributions of their peers.

We had a very important guest in school this afternoon! We were joined by PC Pope, our school engagement officer, for an insightful session focused on growing up as responsible, respectful, and safe members of our community. Ellie joined PC Pope in delivering some quality presentations.
Our students dived into some big topics with maturity and curiosity, covering:

Healthy Relationships: Identifying the traits that make a friendship or partnership strong—like trust, honesty, and kindness.

Respect & Consent: Understanding the importance of boundaries and valuing the voices and space of others.

Community Awareness: Discussing anti-social behaviour and the positive role we can all play in keeping our local area a great place to live.

The energy in the room was fantastic. PC Pope was particularly impressed by how carefully and respectfully the children listened. Our children provided some truly amazing answers that showed deep empathy and a great grasp of right and wrong.

A huge thank you to PC Pope for taking the time to guide our students today.

We are so incredibly proud of Mia, our Collective Worship Leader, who hit the ground running today! 🌟
Mia officially started her role in full swing by leading the entire school in a beautiful and reflective Collective Worship with Miss Lord. As we enter this important time in the Christian calendar, Mia guided us through the journey of Holy Week, helping us reflect on:
🌿 Palm Sunday
🍞 Maundy Thursday
✝️ Good Friday
🌅 Easter Sunday
⛪ Church Visits This Week
The learning continues as our classes head out to experience the peace and beauty of our local church:
Reception through to Year 4 will be visiting the church throughout this week.
Year 5 and Year 6 will be heading over for their special visit shortly after the holiday.
A huge well done to Mia for her confidence, leadership, and for setting such a thoughtful tone for our school community. We can’t wait to see more of your inspiring leadership! 👏✨

Just a reminder that tomorrow (Saturday 28th) is our last D6 session before we break up for Easter. 🐣

We’re on from 9:30 to 11:30 with a free breakfast to keep you fuelled. With SATs not so far away, it's a great chance to work through some questions with an expert coach before the holidays.

Hope to see you there! ☕📖
